Homeless Hygiene Stations Set to Take the Streets Soon

EUREKA (KIEM)– The Affordable Homeless Housing Alternatives will soon be providing a hygiene trailer to the homeless.

The 22-ft long custom trailer will house 3 full bathrooms. The project will take roughly 8-10 weeks to complete. Staff will then go through training and the trailer will hit the road.

The AHHA will launch a pilot test for the trailer. It will go to Eureka two days every week. Roughly 20 people can shower each day. If all goes well, they are hoping to take the trailer to Southern Humboldt and McKinleyville next.

AHHA plans to take the trailer to fairs and festivals in the county. They want to charge a small fee, which will help keep the trailer up and running for the homeless.
