RCEA encourages residents to learn about Solar and Net Energy Metering

Eureka, Ca., (KIEM) The West Coast is big on renewable energy especially in the state of California.

And next week a local business wants to get residents thinking about whether or not solar energy is the right choice.

That’s why the Redwood Coast Energy Authority is set to host a workshop on home and business solar electricity systems.

RCEA said that they support residents interested in renewable energy and added the workshop will zero in on solar installations, as well as net energy billing and metering.

“What it means is you are producing energy when the sun is out and we’re giving you credit for that energy that you’re producing,” said Mahayla Slackerelil, Account Services Manager of RCEA. “And maybe you’re using energy at night when the sun isn’t out so we’re using those credits that you build up during the day.”

In addition, solar system owners and local solar installers will be present to answer any and all inquiries regarding current experiences with energy efficiency.

The workshop will be Wednesday, June 26, from 5:30-7:00 PM at the Humboldt Bay Aquatic Center in Eureka.
