Waterfront Drive Project Kicks Off With Groundbreaking Ceremony

Eureka, Ca. (KIEM) — It’s been nearly 25 years in the making. The Waterfront Drive project will now begin construction after holding a groundbreaking ceremony earlier today.

The improvement project will be along waterfront drive between H and I Streets. It will feature a brand new roadway, a widened sidewalk for pedestrians, bike lanes, and also connect to the Eureka waterfront trail. According to the director of public works, Brian Gerving, the goal of this project is to bring both ends of waterfront drive together and make it more accessible for all residents.

Residents can expect to see construction get started in the next week or so. They can expect for the project to be completed by early Fall.
