Trinidad City Council Calls Special Session to Speed Up Water Testing

TRINIDAD, CA (KIEM) – The Trinidad City Council will be meeting in a special session Wednesday in the efforts to speed up water testing for a proposed hotel project.

This comes after the city was told their water plant can produce up to 48,000 additional gallons of water per day.

That water would come from Luffenholtz Creek. The council wants more details on how much water distribution the creek can handle.

With the new information from the water study: The city wants to give the Trinidad Rancheria an answer if they can supply around 14,000 gallons of water per day for their 5-story hotel project before the August Coastal Commission meeting.

“They’re asking us questions, and want we want to have answers. So that’s where the scope of services comes in. It gives us answers so we can have a better idea of what we can provide to them. We do not want to over-commit. We don’t want to make promises that we can’t keep,” said Eli Naffah Trinidad City Manager.

The Trinidad City Council meets Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. in Town Hall.
