Human Remains Discovered In Dolason Prairie

Dolason Prairie, Ca. (KIEM) — Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies located human remains when responding to reports of an abandoned vehicle belonging to a possible missing person in the Dolason Prairie area of the Redwood National and State Parks.

The remains have been identified as 49-year-old Jeff Pierce of Illinois.

Sheriff’s deputies, National and State park rangers, California Department of Fish and Wildlife wardens, C-H-P, and members of the Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Posse searched the area.

As of right now, foul play is not suspected. The case is still under investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office.
