Vehicle Crash into Pole Causes Vegetation Fire

FIELDBROOK, CA (KIEM)  – A vehicle crashes into a power pole causing a vegetation fire in Fieldbrook.

It happened just after 1:30 p.m. Monday on the 400 block of Burnt Stump Lane. A large truck crashed into a pole knocking power lines to the ground. A fire then started and burned about an acre. Calfire and crews from Fieldbrook, Blue Lake, and Arcata all responded to the scene.

Around 100 PG&E customers are also without electricity. With some help from Mother Nature, crews were able to get the upper hand on the fire.

“We’re working on it currently, and right now, the wind has calmed down. And so we really have an opportunity to stop this, and we’re working on it very hard,” said Bo Lee Calfire Battalion Chief.
