Because Coffee Shop Closes Doors After Arts Alive, Ecocann Plans to Expand into Spot

EUREKA (KIEM) – A local coffee shop will be closing its doors. But the question is for how long?

Because Coffee is located on F Street in Old Town and the coffee shop has been around for about five years. Ecocann will be expanding into the coffee shop’s former spot.

Owner Katie Hennessey says, they received their notice back on June 1^st.

Nine years ago, the building was the site of the former S&K Card Room.

Ecocann company manager Ray Markland says, they’ve been trying to help Because Coffee with their move. Markland also says, they’ve been looking into this expansion for about a year.

Ecocann will be the only cannabis consumption lounge in Eureka. It will also be the first permitted lounge.

Hennessy says, Because Coffee is looking for a place to re-locate. But they’re unsure how long they’ll be closed for.
