Potholes A Growing Problem In Eureka

Eureka, Ca. (KIEM) — We all know what potholes are and how annoying they can be on the road. Drivers in Eureka are starting to see more of them around town.

Potholes are popping up all around the city. They can be found in main roads, neighborhood streets, and the list goes on. One area they have affected is back behind the Red Lion Hotel on T Street and 2nd Street.

Driving over a pothole can cause damage to cars in some cases. This includes blown tires, oil pan damage, and forcing your car out of alignment. Many newer vehicles are lower to the ground, which drivers should be aware of.

We asked one car service manager, Jeremy Rasmussen, what people can do to minimize the damage. He advised drivers to slow down and to straddle the pothole while driving, if possible. Overall, he just encourages everyone to be cautious of their surroundings.

If there is a pothole in your neighborhood that needs to be repaired, residents can call to file a service request with the city of Eureka department of public works.
