HSU Professor Honored for LGBTQ Activism Work

NEW YORK (KIEM)- One Humboldt State University professor has been added to the National LGBTQ Wall of Honor in New York City.

The late Eric Rofes was honored for his work in Queer liberation and social justice on the National LGBTQ Wall of Honor at the Stonewall Inn.

The National LGBTQ Wall of Honor celebrates leaders who have paved the road to liberation and contributed significantly to progress for LGBTQ people.

Rofes was a scholar, activist, and professor of education at HSU. He was instrumental in developing the Multicultural Queer Studies minor. He is the namesake of the Eric Rofes Multicultural Queer Resource Center, which supports LGBTQ students. The resource center was established after Rofes’ death and commemorates his efforts around Queer/Anti-Racist/Feminist activism.
