Eureka City Council Will Vote on Proposed Fallen Firefighter Memorial Site at Tomorrow’s Meeting

EUREKA (KIEM) – Over the last several years, Humboldt Bay Fire has been working to establish a memorial site in Old Town.

Tomorrow, the Eureka City Council will vote whether or not it will be approved. The proposed memorial site would be located at the Clarke Plaza, right across the Clarke History Museum.

It would include the names of six fallen Humboldt Bay Firefighters, Lieutenant Trygve Adolph Oss, Raymond Bernard “Mike” Somma, Engineer Robert Brown “Smokey” McGillivray, Captain George “Pudgy” Davis, Leonard N. Winslow, and Kenneth James Voss.

Humboldt Bay Fire Says, this proposed memorial site would honor the lives and sacrifices made by those firefighters.

If approved by the City Council, Humboldt Bay Fire will begin raising funds for the proposed memorial site.
