Gas Leak in Eureka Closes Portions of a Roadway

EUREKA (KIEM)- A natural gas leak closes a portion of roadway in Eureka. It happened at around 3:30 Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of 14th and I street.

Workers told officials they smelled gas coming from the roadway that they had been working on. They reportedly stated they had not been digging or struck a gas line.

Humboldt Fire and PG&E both responded to the scene.

There is no current threat to the public.
