Kitchen fire causes $50,000 in damage to Eureka home

EUREKA, Ca (KIEM)-Humboldt Bay Fire responded to a structure fire just after noon Tuesday on the 2800 block of C Street in Eureka.

When crews arrived on scene, smoke was coming from the front of the residence.

The fire department said the fire started in the kitchen and appears to have started after a pan of grease was left unattended on the stove.

A woman at the home was treated for smoke inhalation. Two dogs also made it out safely.

Damage was limited to the kitchen and caused an estimated at $50,000 in damage.
