Fortuna Rodeo Celebrates 98th Year with Main Street Parade

Fortuna, Ca. (KIEM) — Down in Fortuna, people were lined up and down Main Street to check out all the fun at this year’s Fortuna Rodeo Parade. The rodeo is celebrating its 98th year. Saturday’s rodeo events all kicked off with the parade that started at noon.

The Fortuna police and fire department, Cal Fire, other neighboring fire agencies, and the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office all walked in the parade. There was even a special appearance by the Fortuna rodeo band.

There were floats from local businesses and organizations including Fortuna Ace Hardware, Redwood Capital Bank, St. Joseph’s Hospital, the Cub Scouts, and many more. According to one of the organizers, the parade is all about bringing the community together.

If you haven’t had a chance, make sure to check out the rodeo. Sunday is the final day and will feature a barbecue and carnival on top of normal rodeo events.
