Two dead in Crescent City after motorcycle falls into pathway of pickup truck

Crescent City, Ca., (KIEM) Two people are dead after a crash involving a motorcycle and a truck with a utility trailer attached.

It all happened Friday afternoon in Crescent City on Highway 199 North of Little Jones Creek Road.

California Highway Patrol says a motorcycle carrying two people in their 70s and a pick-up truck hauling a utility trailer were both traveling Southbound on Highway 199.

Officials say the motorcycle carrying the two riders pulled over on the right shoulder of the highway.  Once the driver of the pickup truck started to pass the motorcycle, on the shoulder of the road, that’s when officials say the bike tipped left.

CHP say both driver and passenger of the motorcycle were thrown off the bike into the path-way of the truck and struck by the trailer that was attached. Both were pronounced dead on scene.

The driver of the pickup truck was not injured.

The crash is still under investigation. Alcohol and drugs are not said to be a factor in Friday’s crash.
