HBF Responds to Structure Fire After Reports of an Explosion

Eureka, Ca. (KIEM) — Humboldt Bay Fire responded to a structure fire after multiple reports of an explosion. All Humboldt Bay Fire engines responded to the scene at Humboldt and I Street near Eureka High School just before 8 PM tonight.

Two parties reported hearing an explosion before seeing smoke and flames coming from a home. The fire was extinguished and no one was home at the time. A few neighbors were checked out by City Ambulance for smoke inhalation, but no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is unknown. Damages are estimated to cost $50,000. The scene is still under investigation.
