Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Investigating an Arson in Redway

Redway, Ca. (KIEM) — The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an arson after receiving reports of a suspicious fire on the 100 block of Apple Lane in Redway. Three vehicles and one residential structure were burned, but no injuries have been reported.

At about 4:30 am Garberville and Redway Fire responded to a vehicle that had been set on fire. They extinguished it then called in the arson task force, sheriff’s arson investigators, and Cal Fire to investigate the scene.

CHP officers also responded and located a suspicious vehicle with two occupants. The driver fled and the passenger was detained, but he denied any involvement.

Both occupants of the vehicle are still persons of interest and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office.
