EPD says they will defeat Sheriff’s Office in Battle of the Badges Blood Drive: Round 2

EUREKA, Ca (KIEM)– Local law enforcement will go head to head in round two of Battle of the Badges Blood Drive.

The Northern California Community Blood Bank hosted the event for the first time last year. Blood donors picked which department they wanted to support.

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office came out on top with 25 donations, beating the Eureka Police Department by two. EPD hopes to defeat the Sheriff’s Office this year, but also they want 100 donors to come to this year’s event.

“I’m going to go on the record and say we will have enough donations to beat the Sheriff’s Department. Makes it a little fun for us, and it helps gets us out of the office. Do something good for the community. But it also is just a great event for the Blood Bank,” said Brain Stephen, Eureka Police Captain.

“The word has gotten out. Certain ones want to win, said Deanna Vallee, Donor Recruiter at the Blood Bank. [As] Captain Stephens said, it’s not about the winning, [but] it’s about bringing in people to donate with law enforcement and having enough blood for our community.”

Battle of the Badges starts Wednesday at 11 a.m at the Northern California Community Blood Bank in Eureka.
