CRESCENT CITY, Ca (KIEM) -A new Sensory Room and Carnival rides flocks locals to this year’s Del Norte County Fair. It opened up Thursday with Kid’s Day.

The traditional flag raise at the main gain opens the Del Norte County Fair. Kids are excited to be with their friends and go on rides like the rock star and zipper.

“It’s pretty cool. Just flipping up, down, it’s pretty cool,” said Nathaniel Barker, 13-Year-Old Crescent City resident.

“It’s for like new experiences, and you get to do different things instead of sit at home all day,” said Emma Campos, 14-Year-Old Crescent City Resident.

“I’m visiting my cousins here, and we’re going to go on lots of slides,” said Brendan Eggen, 7-Year-Old from Sacramento.

Many Del Norte County residents anticipate this annual fair every year. Some of the workers think it is important to get involved with the community.

“I like to keep busy with the community and be in the community with things. This is the part of the everything this year,” said Lelilani St. Cyr a Carnival worker.

New this year is a Sensory Room for kids that need a little break from all the festivities.

“This room is built for any kids with sensory needs, because the Carnival can be really loud, bright, and a lot going on out there. So, they can come in here and just calm down and chill out,” said Whitney Floyd, Sensory Room Organizer.

No matter who you are, there is something to do for everyone at the Del Norte County Fair.

“You have all your friends here, the rides, and it doesn’t happen very often. It happens every year, but it’s just a good environment. It’s fun, a lot of good food also,” said Michael Glazner, 12-Year-Old Crescent City resident.

The Del Norte County Fair continues Friday with Senior Day. It kicks off with the 11th Annual Coast Central Credit Union Highway 101 Car Show at 10 in the morning.
