Local Chapter of California Retired Teachers Association Awards Scholarships to Graduating Seniors

Del Norte County, Ca. (KIEM) — The north coast chapter of the California Retired Teachers Association awards 3 scholarships to graduating seniors from Del Norte High School.

Each scholarship was worth $500 and is a part of a scholarship fund at the Humboldt Area Foundation.

The three recipients will all be going into the teaching profession. The local chapter also awards scholarships to HSU student teachers. They also give grants to first year teachers throughout Humboldt County and Crescent City schools.

The Humboldt Area Foundation believes this scholarship, along with the wide array of others that they offer, are important in helping students overcome barriers when it comes to attending college.
