Man accidentally tossed close to $20,000 out

Samoa, Ca., (KIEM) One Oregon resident accidentally tossed out over $20,000 but will soon get it back.

According to Recology Humboldt, a man from Oregon mistakenly recycled a Vans shoebox with nearly $23,000 inside.

When he noticed he couldn’t find his cash, he called up his garbage company, Recology Ashland.

The Ashland location told the man that they send their recycling over to the Recology Humboldt location in Samoa.

After a phone call to Recology Humboldt, the operations manager said he saw the money fall out of the shoe box as it started coming up the conveyor belt.

The money will be returned to the Recology Ashland customer.
