One of the Painted Utility Boxes In Eureka Is Vandalized

Eureka, Ca. (KIEM) — There’s another case of vandalism in Eureka and this time, it’s one of the painted utility boxes that you can see around town.

The utility box is located on 4th and J Street just across from the courthouse. It was painted by artist Chris Johnson and features images of some historical places and moments throughout Eureka’s history. It now needs some touch ups after sustaining scratches and marks that damaged the paint.

According to the City of Eureka, the responsibility of repairing the utility box falls on the artist. If you see any of the utility boxes and they have been vandalized or damaged, you can call the City of Eureka to report it.
