Golf Fire Breaks Out in Lake County, Forces Evacuations

Lake County, Ca. (KIEM) — A fast-moving wildfire breaks out in Lake County northwest of Clear Lake and is forcing some residents to evacuate. According to Cal Fire, the Golf Fire is burning 19 acres and is 30 percent contained.

The fire was first reported at Soda Bay Road and Golf Drive around 1 pm Thursday afternoon. Around 2:30 pm the same day, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office issued an evacuation order for roughly 650 residents of Riviera West. They are advised there is an immediate threat to life and property.

Units from Kelseyville and Lakeport Fire responded. Cal Fire also sent units to assist. Two helicopters and multiple tankers are working to extinguish the flames. A shelter has been set up at Kelseyville High School.

The cause of the fire is unknown and the investigation is ongoing. We’ll continue to update you as more information becomes available.
