Protester Arrested For Hazardous Dumping in Scotia

SCOTIA (KIEM)– A protester is behind bars for dumping hazardous material at a redwood company in Scotia.

Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Humboldt Redwood Company for reports of protesters locking themselves to the entrance gate and also dumping hazardous materials in the roadway. The roadway leads to Eel River.

Deputies located 33-year-old Stanton Wood who was booked for trespassing, unlawful assembly, and dumping hazardous materials. Two other individuals were issues citations and released from the scene.

Humboldt Redwood Company employees were able to contain the hazardous spill and prevent contamination to the Eel River Watershed.
