Eureka Police Remove 1.7 Tons of Trash in Clean Up Operation

Eureka, Ca. (KIEM) — The Eureka Police Department’s Community Safety Enhancement Team conducts a clean-up operation to remove trash and vacated illegal encampments.

Working in partnership with the Problem Oriented Policing unit, Department of Fish and Wildlife, and City of Eureka code enforcement, they removed 1.77 tons of garbage within a greenbelt area west of Broadway. All encampments were noticed for removal in advance of the operation.

Works from Uplift Eureka, Eureka Rescue Mission, and the Betty Kwan Chinn’s Day Center also assisted with the operation. Several non-profit social service providers were on scene to conduct outreach to any homeless individuals present.
