Eureka High School Breaks Ground on New Agricultural Building and Classroom

EUREKA (KIEM) – Eureka High School is getting a new agricultural shop and classroom.

Earlier this week, the school broke ground for the new facility.  It will be an additional building on the campus.

The site will include one standard classroom and two additional science labs. It will also have a full functioning Ag Mechanic Shop, which will feature welding, plumbing, and electrical classes for students.

The total cost of the project is $6 million dollars. But thanks to a state grant, the school was able to cover half that cost. The other half is funded by Measure S.

Two years ago, Eureka High’s first Ag Building was condemned after the site had lost its foundation.

Superintendent Fred Van Fleck says, this is something that Agricultural Department at Eureka High School has been waiting for.

The new building is expected to be complete by April 2020.
