Orleans Volunteer Fire Department Starts Construction on New Fire Station

Orleans, Ca. (KIEM) — The Orleans Volunteer Fire Department begins construction on their new fire station, all thanks to funding from Measure Z and the Humboldt County Fire Chiefs Association.

According to the department, this project wouldn’t be possible without the support of the community. The land itself that the station will be built on was donated by two Orleans locals, Sue and Phil Sanders. Trinity Valley Consulting Engineers, TT Construction, and Whitson Plumbing have donated materials and services.

The department recently broke ground for the foundation and are preparing for the concrete pour. Volunteers spread drain rock, established a vapor barrier and spread sand in preparation for rebar and concrete work. Once the foundation is in place, the Orleans Volunteer Fire Department will order materials for construction of the building with the support of Measure Z funding.
