Healthcare Workers Picket Outside of St. Joseph Hospital

EUREKA (KIEM) – Hospital staff stood outside of the St. Joseph, fighting against the proposed partnership between the hospital and Adventist Health.

Workers are also demanding for safe staffing.

They says, they’ve seen an increase in wait times for patients in the emergency room, as well staff members becoming sick trying to more cover shifts

The National Union of Healthcare Workers adds, they are still in talks with the hospital.

St. Joseph Hospital’s Chief Executive Roberta Luskin-Hawk says, “We are committed to ensuring an exceptional workplace for our caregivers. In addition to competitive pay and benefits, this includes professional growth opportunities and a safe and respectful work environment.”

Luskin-Hawk adds, “We respect the rights of caregivers to be represented by a union, and for represented caregivers to conduct informational picketing.”

Queen of the Valley in Napa and two other hospitals in Sonoma County also picketed today.
