Blue Lake Rancheria donates over $130,000 to Local School District

BLUE LAKE, Ca (KIEM) – Monday afternoon the Blue Lake Rancheria donates $138,500 to the Blue Lake Union Elementary School.

The school plans to use the money to buy resources for their students like iPads and new technology for the classroom. Also, they now will be able to have a full-time 8th-grade teacher, sports, accelerated learning programs, and much more. Superintendent for the Blue Lake School District says she is ecstatic over the generous donation.

“Schools are underfunded. We have the Rancheria coming up and giving us funds to help these children have sports, arts, music, plays, [and] exposure to theatre. The amount of opportunities that are being given to them because of this is amazing,” said DeAnn Waldvogel,” Superintendent and Principal for Blue Lake Union Elementary School.

“Without our donation, they might get enough technical equipment like iPads. Or be able to participate in those things in technology that will have a dramatic impact on their future,” said Jason Ramos, Tribal Councilmember.
