Eureka Rolls Out Tools for Tots Program for Preschool Programs

EUREKA (KIEM) – It’s a new kind of way to help expose young kids to jobs in the trade’s field, and they’re doing it through toys.

Tools for Tots is based on construction themed activities, such as using to hammers and a workbench, building blocks, and even a costume that kids can dress up in. The set even comes with books!

The purpose of the program is to expose preschoolers to potential careers in the trades.

Eleven preschools in Eureka will be receiving these toys, such as Little Saplings, College of the Redwood’s Child and Development Center, and Betty Chinn’s Family Care center are among the few.

The program is funded by The Building and Construction Trades Council of Humboldt and Del Norte and Humboldt and Del Norte Central Labor Council.

The City hopes to roll out the program to other classrooms in Eureka.
