Former KHUM DJ runs for First District Supervisor

Eureka, Ca.,(KIEM) A new face is running to become a Humboldt county official.

Wednesday night, Former KHUM’s Cliff Berkowitz announced his candidacy for First District Supervisor at Sequoia Park.

Berkowitz has 40 years in radio and shared that after observing the 2016 election, it was time for him to switch roles from the voice on the radio to the voice of the people.

At Wednesday’s introduction, Berkowitz said there are several issues that need to be addressed and fixed within the county.

Such as county officials being transparent with residents to protecting agricultural lands and the climate crisis in Humboldt.

The First District Supervisor candidate said what’s different about him and the current district supervisor is that he will prioritize everyone equally and not be afraid to take action on issues.

“Well both of us do a lot in the community and public service and I thank him for that. But we really need to be there for all the people for the first district. There’s hard work and then there’s hard work for the community for the district. Volunteering is great but that’s not the hard part.”

The former radio DJ said he looks forward to a good debate.
