Car Crashes into Power Pole on Broadway and Washington Intersection

EUREKA (KIEM) – A busy street is shutdown, after a car goes off the roadway and crashes into a power pole.

It happened around 1 p.m. Monday AFTERNOON, between Washington and Broadway. A black four door sedan struck a power pole, right in front of Leon’s Car Care Center.      

Humboldt Bay Fire, EPD, and PG&E quickly responded to the scene. Humboldt Bay Fire says PG&E de-energized the power lines and removed the damaged pole off the road.

Police say, the driver was going northbound on Broadway, when the car run up the sidewalk and collided with the pole. Traffic was closed off in both directions for around forty-five minutes.

No one was injured.

EPD said distracted driving may have been a factor.
