Fortuna Council moves forward with police facility, possible pool

FORTUNA, Ca (KIEM) – The Fortuna City Council unanimously decided to move forward with the supplemental budget request for the purchase of 2600 Newburg road.

The plan is to have a police facility and a possible pool.

According to the city, the current police building does not have enough elbow room for all of its employees, and the city is requesting for a $50,000 budget.

Right now, the city is going through its architectural and appraisal phase of the possible project.

“We need to make sure that that building can be repurposed in a feasible way for the use of a police station. What the city is doing is they’re putting a certain amount, $3,000 a month while they’re considering. The property owner has costs,” said Merritt Perry, Fortuna City Manager.
