Eureka Planning Commission to discuss Proposed RV Park

Eureka, Ca., (KIEM) The Eureka Planning Commission will meet to discuss a variety of items of the agenda such as the approval of three different cannabis use permits, reviewing the city’s housing element update, and a big development project.

For some time the city of Eureka has been thinking about selling the vacant land on Waterfront Drive near Halvorsen Park, to develop an RV Park.

The proposed blueprint includes the construction of a 40-space RV Park designed for short-term stays and people from outside of the area.

According to the city, the park proposal also includes a new 100-foot floating dock on the bay, an additional building that will include a public restroom and a commercial recreation facility, and the removal of one of the restroom buildings.

If approved construction could begin as early as next year.

The planning commission will be reviewing the project at Monday night’s meeting beginning at 5:30 PM in Eureka City Hall.
