Hundreds Walk for Suicide Prevention in Arcata

ARCATA, Ca (KIEM) – Over 300 people walk three miles from the Arcata plaza in efforts to bring awareness to suicide prevention.

Many people wrote messages on a board of why and who they’re walking. The Suicide Prevention Out of the Darkness Walk is for people to be aware of resources for those who may need it.

For some, suicide hits close to home. One of the volunteers got involved because she lost someone to suicide who was like a brother to her.

Over $30,000 was raised for today’s walk. More information about the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention go to https://afsp.donordrive.com.
