College of the Redwoods Names Temporary Chief of Police

Eureka, Ca. (KIEM) — College of the Redwoods hires a new temporary chief of police to lead the department while the district conducts a national search to permanently fill the position.

Frederick Flores is the person taking on that new role. He has 34 years experience as a California sworn peace officer and 33 years of incident management team deployments. He has worked as deputy chief of operations and peace officer for Cal Fire’s Humboldt-Del Norte Unit. He is also a certified educational instructor and large exercise scenario coordinator for Cal Fire, FEMA, and USFS.

According to Flores, he is excited to join the CR family and wants to take a student-first approach during his time as chief of police.
