UC, CSU, Out-of-State, and Private colleges visit CR for Transfer Day

Eureka, Ca., (KIEM) Transfer Day at a college may be seen as confusing as colleges usually want to retain their students however representatives from many California state universities, along with private and out-of-state colleges tabled at the College of the Redwoods for Transfer Day.

Transfer Day is an annual event meant to get college students to think in-depth about their college careers and future.

Over 50 students met with nearly 30 representatives to receive information about colleges such as: Sacramento State University, Oregon Institute of Technology, and UC Berkeley.

One representative said he attended the event to show how great his university, UC Merced really is.

“Being the youngest UC campus we are also the smallest in terms of our population of students. So I like to say that we are the best of two worlds, that small intimate setting that private school can offer you but at the same time we are part of the UC system,” said UC Merced’s Admissions Advisor, Timothy Ford. “Our students are pioneers establishing new traditions on campus, so they’re leaving their mark.”

“We support all their education goals it’s important to us that students are finding a good education at CR and then taking it with them to the next step to transfer,” added Angela Stewart, Counselor of College of the Redwoods.

Tuesday is the only day college representatives will be in Humboldt
