Arcata Residents Experience Heavy Rainfall and Flooding

Arcata, Ca. (KIEM) — Wednesday night, residents in Arcata are cleaning up the aftermath of a torrential downpour that hit the area earlier this evening. Shortly after 5 pm there were reports of heavy rainfall and flooding in and around Arcata.

Murphy’s Market on Bayside Road experienced flooding inside of the store. According to an employee, the gutters backed up. Some of the ceiling tiles broke and fell, which resulted in water coming down through the roof.

The HSU campus experienced flooding as well. In Gist Hall you can see the floor covered with water. There was also street flooding along Sunny Brea as well as along Samoa Boulevard near G Street.
