Six Rivers Lifts Fire Restrictions, Ground Saturated From Rain

EUREKA (KIEM)– With recent rain impacting the North Coast, Six Rivers National Forest is lifting fire restrictions beginning Friday.

Forest Supervisor Ted McArthur announced Thursday that restrictions will be lifted.

It’s now time for fall and winter prescribed burning. Under story and pile burning reduces hazardous fuels that could contribute to extreme fire dangers.

Prescribed burning will be in effect as weather conditions permit.

Forest visitors may now have open campfires outside of designated campgrounds if permitted.
