Yurok Chairman Testifies in Washington

WASHINGTON D.C. (KIEM)- The Yurok Chairman testifies at hearing on Thursday in Washington D.C. on Yurok Lands Acts.

Yurok Chairman Joseph James testified at a subcommittee for Indigenous Peoples of the United States hearing on the anticipated Yurok Lands Act.

The act looks to strengthen the tribe’s sovereignty and capacity to self-govern and improve tribal infrastructure.

It also aims to revise the reservation boundary to include land the tribe purchased within its ancestral territory.
