Commercial Structure Fire in McKinleyville

MCKINLEYVILLE (KIEM)– Fire crews are on scene of a large structure fire in McKinleyville.

The blaze was reported just after 8 p.m. in a large garage behind a residence on the 4500 block of Dows Prairie Road.

Firefighters from Arcata, Blue Lake, Fieldbrook and Cal-Fire all responded to the scene.

There were no fire hydrants in the area and water tenders had to be called in to help put out the flames.

At last check, the fire is still burning inside the building, but fire crews are unable to go inside because the roof may collapse.

The cause is unknown at this time.
