Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Launches Bike Registration Program

HUMBOLDT COUNTY (KIEM) – It’s like the DMV, but for your bikes. The Humboldt County Sheriff’s office is taking steps to combat property theft, specifically with stolen bikes

The Sheriff’s Office recently launched the Bicycle Registration Program. Residents can now sign up their bikes with their name, number, and the bike’s serial number. HCSO says, bikes are an easy target to steal because they’re unlocked, bike locks can be broken with a bolt cutter, or can be taken apart.

The Sheriff’s Office says, the bike’s serial number will part of a national database. If a bike is listed as stolen property, police will be able to track it down.

If you would like to sign up for the Bicycle Registration Program, you can visit the HCSO office in McKinleyville at 1608 Pickett Road or you can contact Sergeant Krystle Arminio at (707)-839-6600.
