Fremont Woman Arrested For Attempted Murder, Almost Strikes Deputies

EUREKA (KIEM)– A woman is behind bars for attempted murder after reportedly trying to run over deputies.

Thursday, Humboldt County Sheriff deputies responded to Herrick Avenue Park and Ride for reports of a robbery and kidnapping in progress.

Deputies made contact with 21-year-old Jalissa Montanez’s boyfriend who explained they had gotten into an argument and she drove off the scene.

Deputies then made contact with the 21-year-old to check if she was safe and observed a vehicle approaching at a high rate of speed, narrowly striking a deputy and the patrol vehicle.

Officers chased the vehicle to the 500 block of Herrick Avenue and after a brief struggle, Montanez was placed under arrest for suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, resisting arrest, possession of a stolen vehicle along with other charges.
