Arcata Fire District seeks community input for proposed tax measure

Arcata, Ca.,(KIEM) Arcata Fire is seeking funding for its district and needs the help of its residents to decide what the funds will be used for.

Arcata Fire District has a proposed 2020 tax measure that, if granted, will be used for things the community identifies as top priority; such as employment and equipment.

The district is asking its residents to take a survey that will tell the agency exactly what is needed in its city.

With this sort of feedback, the district said it will assist with keeping the community safe and secure. All while helping the district to succeed.

“The funding would be a parcel tax,” said Fire Chief McDonald. “So, based on whatever the property has on it, whether it’s residential, commercial, industrial that’s what would generate the tax.”

A recent study reported that nearly 80% of the district’s residents are satisfied with services that Arcata Fire District provides.
