Eureka Man Arrested After Police Find Drugs, Firearm During Bicycle Stop

Eureka, Ca. (KIEM) — A Eureka man is now in custody after police find drugs and a firearm after a bicycle stop.

An EPD officer was patrolling the 800 block of West Harris Street when he recognized a male felony warrant suspect on a bicycle. The officer stopped 33-year-old Larry Ray Gibson of Eureka. He was placed under arrest and during a search, officers located 3.6 ounces of methamphetamine.

EPD’s problem oriented policing unit and the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office then searched Gibson’s residence at the 1800 block of California Street. Detectives located methamphetamine, digital scales, packaging, and a sawed off shotgun.

Gibson was booked for the felony warrant. He was also charged with possession and transport of controlled substances, felon in possession of a firearm, and probation violation.
