Eureka, Ca., (KIEM) One of Humboldt County’s biggest fundraisers of the year had over 1000 Humboldt residents show up.
Its this year’s Rummage Sale hosted at the Redwood Acres.
The foot-traffic was plentiful as locals showed up as early as 9 Saturday morning creating a line out of the door.
There were three buildings full of furniture, houseware, jewelry and much more.
The organizers of the rummage sale use this sale as a fundraising initiative to benefit the youth of Humboldt County. Participants said this is not only a fundraiser for the kids but also a benefit to the community.
“A lot of people depend on it,” said Redwood Service Unit Director Cheryl Kingham of Girl Scouts of Northern California. “There are a lot of low-income people who can get some great deals, in fact, I just checked out a man who got $90 worth of clothes and it was a pretty big pile. He’s probably buying clothes for three or four kids and that’s a way to help the community make ends meet as well as raise money for a good cause. It does both.”
