Eureka City Manager Search Continues with Public Forum

Eureka, Ca. (KIEM) — The process of finding Eureka’s next city manager continued as the candidates participated in a public forum Friday evening.

The event began with a meet and greet with each of the finalists. One person, Paul Van Haute, has dropped out of the race leaving 5 potential candidates in the running.

Candidates introduced themselves to the audience, gave a brief speech about their past experience, and why they want to take on the position. Attendees also had the opportunity to write down their impressions or any comments on the candidates. Those will then be sent to the city council.

The city hopes the public forum gives the community a chance to have a say in who will become the next city manager.

Earlier in the day, the candidates met with city council and staff followed by a tour of Eureka. Saturday, the candidates will be interviewed by a panel of hand-picked community members. The city council hopes to make a final decision in the next couple of weeks.
