CHP Searching for Two Suspects That Fled During Attempted Traffic Stop

Humboldt County, Ca. (KIEM) — CHP is searching for 2 suspects that fled from their vehicle during a traffic stop.

Around 4 Tuesday afternoon, CHP officers attempted to stop a silver Nissan sedan traveling northbound on US 101 just south of the Hooker Creek exit.

The vehicle continued north on State Route 254 through Miranda when it turned onto Jay Smith Road. Roughly one-half mile up the vehicle was abandoned.

According to CHP, 2 Hispanic males fled the vehicle on foot into the surrounding forest. The two men are believed to be in their early 20’s, between 5 foot 5 and 5 foot 8 with a slim build. One suspect was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and camouflage shorts. The other suspect’s clothing is unknown.

CHP continues to investigate the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call CHP dispatch.
