Del Norte County Schools Put on Lockdown

Schools in Del Norte County were on lockdown this afternoon.

Just after 1 p.m., law enforcement responded to reports of a student with a firearm. After securing the Del Norte High School campus, authorities determined that no one was in danger.

After interviewing students, officers believe that the firearm was a toy.

Mary Peacock, Castle Rock Charter School and Bess Maxwell were also put on lockdown.

The Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office, Crescent City Police and C.H.P. all responded.

The Incident remains under investigation.
