A. W. Way Park Celebrates 50 Years

HUMBOLDT COUNTY (KIEM)- The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors celebrates the A. W. Way Park 50th Anniversary.

Arthur William Way was the Mayor of Eureka in the mid-1920s and a California State Senator.

Back in 1968, the Way family donated the parkland along the Mattole River to Humboldt County, which was named the A. W. Way Park.

The Mattole Valley Women’s Club established a flag pole in the park and raises an American and California flag. They worked tirelessly to obtain an American flag that was raised over the United States Capitol.

The flag raised today coincides with the parks anniversary.
