Man dies in Humboldt Hill house fire

EUREKA (KIEM) – A man is dead after a home in Humboldt Hill is destroyed in an early morning fire.

The fire broke out around 12:45 A.M. Wednesday morning on the 6300 block of Purdue Drive. When Humboldt Bay Fire arrived on scene, the found smoke and visible flames. The incident was then upgraded to a two-alarm fire.

The man who is in his 60’s, was transported to St. Joseph Hospital where he later died.

Crews managed to contain the fire to the home. Humboldt Bay Fire said estimated damage is about $250,000.
